ADVICE FROM MANUFACTURER
Do not overheat in the microwave or heat without water. Wash with care. Do not use abrasive cleansers or steel wool. Product size and shape varies in each item due to manufacturing process. Appearance of glaze colour varies in each item. Some products may take on a scorched-like texture on the surface, which is a unique effect of the firing called 'yo-hen'.
Although the word kyusu simply means teapot, it's come to mean a particular style of traditional Japanese clay teapot with a side handle. This modern kyusu is from Japanese teaware brand Kinto. It is made from fine glazed porcelain in Hasami village, Nagasaki prefecture, where porcelain production dates back over 400 years. The petite kyusu features a discreet lid, a well designed spout that pours evenly, and a clever interior strainer that won't clog. Will it make your Japanese green tea taste better? Probably not, but it will enhance the pleasure of the tea making ceremony.
